Can You Paint a Chiminea With Hammerite?
Chimineas can start to look a little rusty after a few years outside. For that reason, you probably want to paint them. Maybe you’ve looked at that tin of Hammerite in the shed and wondered if it will do the job. Can you paint a chiminea with Hammerite?
Regular Hammerite will not stand up to the heat of a chiminea. However, Hammerite does sell a high heat paint that is perfect for Chimineas.
So what is this high heat Hammerite paint? I have included a link to it below and will go into a little more detail about it.
Hammerite Barbecue Paint is specially formulated for use on the exterior of metal barbecues and chimineas to bring them back to life. It provides protection and preserves the life of metal. The paint is abrasion resistant and resists cracking and flaking. It has a high tolerance to heat, resisting up to 600 degrees Celcius.
This high heat spray paint offers a beautiful matt coat that is exceptionally durable and provides resistance against fading due to wind, sun and rain.
Quick-drying and with no primer required, this paint saves valuable time. Supplied in an aerosol container for easy, quick application.
Other Paints
So are there other brands that offer paints suitable for use on Chimineas? You bet there are. The most popular one is probably Rust-Oleum stove and BBQ paint. Again I will include a link to the product for you below.
This Black Stove and BBQ paint is a matt finish from the range of Rust-Oleum spray paints. This paint is suitable for use inside and outside the house and on surfaces subject to a heat of up to 650C.
It is not suitable for areas that are subject to direct contact with flames, so you can only use it on the outside of a Chiminea. Easy to use, fast dry and produces a perfect finish every time. The coating is UV absorbent, tough, hard-wearing, water and rust-resistant and will not fade or yellow. Ideal for use on BBQs, wood stoves, fire screens and motor parts etc.
