What is the Difference Between Stanley and Stanley Fatmax?
When looking for tools you will have no doubt come across Stanley and Stanley Fatmax and wonder what is the difference between the two? Well, let me break it down for you.
The short and simple answer to this is that Fatmax is Stanley’s premium brand. The Fatmax range is aimed at professionals and high-level DIY’ers.
As Stanley themselves say “STANLEY FATMAX® sets the standards in quality, performance, and reliability. Whether on the belt, in the hand, or on the Jobsite STANLEY tools are the measure of a pro.”
Stanley Fatmax Power Tools
Stanley also makes power tools under the Fatmax brand. We are now on the second generation of these tools in the UK.
While the first version didn’t make much of a splash the new V20 tool range has caught my attention. These are good quality power tools at a really good price.
Stanley is part of Stanley Black and Decker Inc. This megacorp also owns tonnes of other tool brands including DeWALT, Irwin, Bostich and more.
For me, these new Fatmax power tools seem to take a lot of the tech from the DeWALT tools but selling them at a cheaper price.
I have reviewed lots of the range already, such as the Drill, Brushless Drill and Multi-tool. The first generation of Fatmax power tools didn’t get the best reputation in terms of quality but these new ones are really good. I highly recommend you check them out if you are in the market for new power tools.
Fatmax Hand Tools
Beyond power tools, the range of Fatmax hand tools is also great. The tape measure is a particular standout product and is favoured by tons of professionals.
Everything under the Fatmax name seems to be a step up in quality over the regular Stanley tool brand.
And the range is huge, Stanley seems to have a regular and a Fatmax version of pretty much every tool it sells. I have used the Screwdrivers, Hammer, Level and toolboxes and found them all to be decent.
